Contemporary African Art
Collection 54
Collezione 54 was born over thirty years ago from the will of engineer Rosario Bifulco.
A contemporary art collection that focuses primarily on contemporary African art and the works of all those artists originally from the continent who have lived in the diaspora.
The collection is a unique testimony to the artistic production of the African continent for its completeness, variety of authors and typology of works present: painting, sculpture, installations, photography, video art.
On display in Piacenza is a selection of the highest quality works, testifying to the contemporary art world’s growing interest in the continent’s artistic production and the power of the works of its masters.

The sections of the exhibition
The exhibition was born from the encounter between Samuele Manin’s curatorial vision and the research and collecting work carried out by Paolo Giglio, together with his father Bruno Giglio.
The Sguardi sull’Africa project was also born as a gesture of gratitude towards the city of Piacenza.
Paolo and Bruno Giglio have chosen to share this heritage through a major public exhibition, recognizing Piacenza as a place capable of hosting and promoting a cultural project of international scope. In this sense, the exhibition is a gift to the city and its visitors, designed to foster knowledge, dialogue, and openness.
