An exhibition that chronicles the emergence
of autonomous and original artistic languages beginning in the 1950s.

Through over two hundred works, the exhibition brings together tradition and modernity, cultural identity and formal experimentation, offering a broad and informed perspective on one of the most significant chapters in the artistic history of North Africa.
Housed in the Palazzo Gotico, the exhibition began as a gift to the city of Piacenza from Paolo and Bruno Giglio, transforming a private collection into a shared cultural project, open to the public and fostering dialogue between cultures.

The works and the artists
The exhibition brings together some of the leading figures in modern and contemporary Moroccan art, figures who have decisively contributed to the definition of an autonomous artistic modernity, capable of engaging with the international context without abandoning their cultural roots.
Teaching
The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive program of educational activities and workshops designed for schools, families, and children. Through educational programs and moments of cultural mediation, Views on Africa offers reading and in-depth tools to introduce diverse audiences to the languages of modern and contemporary African art.
