Victor Fotso Nyie (Cameroon, 1990) is an artist whose sculptural practice investigates the relationships between personal memory, cultural heritage and the spiritual dimension, developing a language that intertwines contemporary figuration and references to African vernacular traditions.

Her work lies at the intersection of self-representation, collective narrative, and reflection on cultural heritage, exploring the ways in which individual identities are constructed in dialogue with ancestral memories.

Raised in Cameroon in a context rich in cultural and symbolic layers, Fotso Nyie develops a research deeply rooted in his lived experience and awareness of his sub-Saharan heritage.
His practice is part of a broader contemporary debate on the restitution of African heritage and the need to redefine historical narratives through autonomous and culturally situated perspectives.

At the heart of his research is the use of terracotta as a primary material, understood not only as a means of expression but also as a symbolic device linked to the land, origins, and the continuity of memory.

His sculptures, which alternate between integral and fragmented forms, address themes of identity, uprooting, and cultural healing, evoking processes of transformation and recomposition.
